When Bill and I arrived in Rome last week, Gagosian Rome was one of our first destinations. We wanted to see Helen Frankenthaler, Seachange, a decade of paintings, 1974-1983.
Frankenthaler's Tunis II was a strong presence in the reception area.
John and I have long admired Ms Frankenthaler (1928-2011), who is usually described as a second-generation American Abstract Expressionist painter and one of the creators of colour-field painting.
The Gagosian Gallery is a large space and gives Frankenthaler's quite large paintings lots of room to breathe.

We'll finish with Omen, 1980. Show runs until July 2019. Find Gagosian Rome at Via Francesco Cripi, 16 (just off Via Tritone near the Piazza Barberini).
