Sublime Tacos of Mexico City

Our hosts in Mexico City recommended the Restaurante La Parnita in the strongest possible terms. When we got a similar recommendation from the proprietor of a local record store we decided to go straight over.
We found it behind this modest exterior, in the Roma Norte neighbourhood, where Avenida Yucatan meets Calle Querétaro.
We were bedazzled by the Spanish menu until a charming lady who spoke English, offered to help. She outlined the options and told us which items were her favourites. I noticed her later working in the kitchen.
Here is one of her favourites  -- Taco Carmelita -- with deep fried shrimp . We were smitten!
We returned for another lunch today, just after one o'clock, and found the place almost empty.
Our waiter set the table with a tray of condiments -- guacamole, limes, tomato sauce and a spicy oil mix. He brought lemonade for me and a Carta Blanca beer for John.
We each tried one of the soups of the day -- Jitomate albahaca (creamy tomato basil) for me
and Berros (creamy watercress) for John. So tasty!
As we ate our soup we watched the place fill up
John slipped past the huge jars of fruit juice on the bar to the kitchen in hopes of some action photos.
He was in luck. The chef was putting together a new order of tacos
which were then whisked off to the hungry customers.
We ordered a second round of drinks and settled into our yummy taco platters.
We've found that two tacos are the perfect serving for us. They are small but surprisingly filling.
The place was buzzing when we left and our feast cost us only at about $12 each (CAD). We shall definitely return!

  4. No wonder you made a fast return to that restaurant. Looks fantastic in your photos.
(Seems very far from Hernando's Hideaway, ha ha)

And you already found a record store!
