Tomatoes marinating

Tomatoes marinating in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, lemon and a little Dijon mustard, with raw crushed garlic and chopped fresh basil leaves between the tomato slices.

August/September is tomato season in Ontario, the only time of year we can make this dish.

We ate this dish last night with a frittata made with cheese and red and yellow bell peppers. We marinated tomatoes again tonight to have with spaghetti pesto and Portuguese chicken with hot sauce. It's the simple things.

p.s. I have a gmail account, so I can comment

  2. Thanks, Lisa! I realized that about gmail. I guess you had to sign in, if you hadn't already.

Oh, I see, one has to comment "as". Gotcha!

How many movies do the two of you plan on seeing: ballpark? How many do you hope to see together?

And, Oh, yes, the tomatoes are Divine! Don't wait too long though. This is the season!

  6. John!
Those tomatoes look amazing! The real thing. They actually seem ripe and I can almost taste them from here. Obviously you have some Italian in you somewhere. That's a picture that crosses sensory boundaries. Thank you.
Hope your trip west is fun!

  7. Jerry, I've been working hard at developing my inner Italian with many trips to Italy. I'm mad for the Mediterranean! Glad you like the pics. G-d Bless Ontario tomatoes!

We're off tomorrow morning. We're all packed. Watching Beetlejuice on TV at the moment - such a sweet movie!

  8. mmmmm. That look delish!

Kudos on starting a blog -- it'll be a great way to keep up with your adventures. Have fun in San Fran.

  9. Thanks, Lisa! We're really starting to settle into San Fran. It's been hot here! Getting into the blog thing too. It's a good exercise in keeping things concise!
