At the bottom of Via dei Bergamaschi is Piazza di Pietra featuring an ancient Roman temple (145 AD), dedicated to Emperor Hadrian that was incorporated into the modern Stock Exchange. .
At the top of the street is Piazza Colona featuring the Column of Marcus Arelius (180 AD) commemorating his victories in Northern Europe. The elegant palazzo in the background is now the offices of Il Tempo newspaper.
Nearby is the Jesuit church of Sant'Ignazio featuring a fabulous 3-D ceiling by Andrea del Pozzo showing the entry of Saint Ignatius into heaven.
Closer to Piazza Navona is the French National Church, San Luigi dei Francesi with its 3 incredible Caravaggio's commemorating the martyrdom of St Matthew.
