John and I are big fans of the photography of Wolfgang Tillmans so it was fun to see him fill several large rooms at David Zwirner in Chelsea, NYC, last week.
Tillmans is famous for his idiosyncratic installations.
Large prints
sharing the walls with some prints as small as 4"x 6"
and clips used instead of frames.
His shows always attract
a hip crowd of photography-lovers.
We were lucky to catch the show on its last day.
I was wondering if you had also seen his Book for Architects installation at the Metropolitan?

Lisa, I wish we had seen it. I thought I had done my homework, but I only read about this after our visit to the Met. Dang. So glad you found it. Love when that happens.

ReplyDeleteHey Potch, Glad you like the stuff. Tillmans was exhibiting many different kinds of prints, including what seemed to be 4 by 6 inch prints from a one-hour shop held to the wall with scotch tape. Many were framed in a conventional way but the ones that inspired me the most were the ink-jet prints mounted inexpensively with clips and nails. John
