2nd lunch at Trattoria Cavalier Gino

We went back to Trattoria Cavalier Gino with the highest expectations and we were not disappointed.

Our expectations were surpassed. It was Friday so the day's specials featured fish. This is Bill's Risotto Pescatori (Fisherman's Risotto). Bill expected it to be full of fresh clams, mussels, octopus, and squid, but what surprised Bill was how light it all was.

My soup was a rich amalgam of stock, carmalized onion, chick peas and whitefish.

Great texture and flavour.

Bill and I shared a baccala' (salted cod) in tomato sauce.

The delicious fish broke apart into scrumptious flakes.

I asked Gino if I could get a tomato salad. He took a green/red tomato out of the fridge, took it into the kitchen and brought it brought out, cut up and drizzled with olive oil, vinegar and fresh basil.

Carla was as warmly welcoming as ever.

Gino brought us our dessert of ripe strawberries

And treated us to an Amaro digestivo, compliments of the house.

  2. What a nice compliment, Jeffrey. Thanks! By the way -- we love paper-- printing, folding by hand -- bliss.
